Studio Paintings

I have painted in acrylics for more than 35 years. Until recently, I painted in the studio, but when I began my plein air series, I enjoyed my contact with nature so much that I never considered bringing my new subject matter back inside.

Winter creates problems with acrylics when painting out of doors. The paint freezes below 32 degrees. And besides that, painting time in both light and from weather is problematic. So last year I came inside to paint "Boyle's Garage," and enjoyed bringing the freshness of what I had gained in plein air to the studio.

Today, while continuing to paint scenes of Radnor, I have taken on the task of depicting "sleeping cars" in barns, garages and in yards. Though I am not sure of the market, I have always been a "car person" and enjoy the subject matter immensely.
