The Shober House

Located near 9th Street in Avalon, this classic Victorian shore home was built in 1902. Though modified in recent years to make it comfortable for modern living, it retains the dark woods of its infancy, as well as the charm of a home of the early 1900s.

The house faces east, so as I started the painting (about 9:45) the front was flooded with sunlight. By the time I completed the painting (about 4:00 p.m.) it was nearly all in shade. The sun nearly cooked my canvas which evaporated the water in my acrylic almost on contact.
