It was the depression era in the south. This drawing was inspired by a Christmas creche complete with pealing sign, the bride Mary, Joseph, a shepherd boy, and a star promoting the inn where they were saying. The Ben Shahn painting of the famous Sacco-Vanzetti trial appears over the doorway.
